2018: Announcement of the Pelion IoT platform
In early August 2018, ARM Holdings announced the Pelion IoT platform, designed to manage devices and data connected to the Internet of Things.
As the president of ARM IoT Services Group Dipesh Patel explained, the Pelion platform is distinguished by the fact that it is fully horizontally scalable and capable of managing any number and type of devices and communications, as well as working with any information and connecting to any cloud.
| This is rightfully the first platform that brings everything from communications to devices and data, "he said. |
ARM notes that Pelion uses a single settlement system that helps reduce infrastructure costs and facilitates integration.
With a single platform, companies get a comprehensive view of all devices connected to the network, as well as tools to optimize data traffic from this equipment and manage all this in private, public and hybrid clouds and local environments.
Working quickly with your own data will help companies make more effective business decisions, explained Hima Mukkamala, senior vice president and general manager of ARM IoT Services.
| Organizations need a proprietary IoT platform to manage the diversity and complexity of devices and data. Pelion will allow organizations to get closer to this fragmented and often problematic approach and get real business benefits, "he said. |
Deepesh Patel, referring to IDC analysts, says about 163 zettabytes of data will be generated by 2025. Data management is an interesting task, and the production of useful data is this problem that each company must solve so that they can be analyzed and visualized, as well as create the necessary applications, he said.[1]
