The RST-Invent company developed a RFID tag for marking of aviabaggage. On August 13, 2018 TAdviser the head on development of RST-Invent Ildar Yulgushev who is, directly, dealing with issues of interaction with airlines of the Russian Federation and the CIS reported about it.
By 2019 RST-Invent is going to execute delivery not less than 100 million such RFID labels. Besides, the plans of the company are equipment of the Russian and foreign airports a RFID system, Ilya Melnik, the commercial director of RST-Invent told.
The feature of development consists that RFID tags are already integrated directly into a luggage label and contain data on the passenger, parameters of his baggage and a route. Each of such labels has the unique identification code using which tracking of movement of baggage is made from the moment of registration before unloading for a tape at the airport of arrival. And the equipment which is specially installed on all way of transportation of baggage and software will collect all information in the single database, representatives of RST-Invent explained.
Meanwhile, loss of baggage at the airports still is a current problem. So, according to IATA (International Air Transport Association), expenses on search and return to the passenger of each lost unit of baggage make about 300 c.u., i.e. in year of airline and the airports incur enormous losses only on the solution of this problem.
According to RST-Invent, use of RFID technology will allow airlines and the airports to optimize baggage logistics, to reduce its losses, and as result, to minimize expenses on its search.
