2018: Start of tender on development a solutions blockchain for aircraft

In August, 2018 it became known that the German developer of the corporate software SAP and Lufthansa airline combined efforts in development of a blockchain in aircraft.

The tender first in the history on development a blockchain services for the aviation industry — Aviation Blockchain Challenge was started. His organizers pursues the following aims: draw attention to the potential of use of technology in aircraft, develop the revolutionary ideas in different scopes of a blockchain and start pilot projects.

SAP and Lufthansa were engaged in implementation of a blockchain in aircraft

Technological solutions which will be created within Aviation Blockchain Challenge, it is going to implement in commercial operation to help participants of the market of air transportation to optimize work with clients and to improve business processes, supply chains and processes of maintenance in airlines.

The competition will take place in Berlin and will cover three main categories:

  • Traveler Challenge. Here the solutions capable to bring benefit to travelers belong. It is about booking systems and acquisitions of tickets, programs of loyalty and identification at the airport.

  • Airline Challenge. This part of tender is connected with transactions in airlines and the accompanying processes, including with optimization of data exchange in the company and interaction between different divisions.

  • Supplier Challenge. In this category the ideas concerning search of new approaches to service and other processes within supply channels will be considered. This tracking and digitization of documents, ensuring transparency of verification of documents, etc.

Winners of competition will receive from SAP and Lufthansa support in a part of further development of their solutions which are also going to be implemented Lufthansa and other aircraft companies.[1]
