At the end of August, 2018 the American producer of the Ford cars announced the beginning of use of unmanned aerial vehicles for control of the enterprises. At the expense of the new project the company hopes to save 90% of time and to eliminate all risks work-related at height.
At the plant on production of engines belonging to Ford in the British Dagenham employees use drones with video cameras for safe and effective inspection of supporting structures, pipes and sections of a roof of the enterprise. Quadcopters help to detect leak of air and to check the equipment. Also the possibility of implementation technologists at the enterprises in other regions is considered.
Before maintenance at height at the plant took place in Dagenham using the automated platforms elevators and the construction woods. With their help inspected 40-meter constructions bearing the heavy plant equipment. Survey of each zone required 12 hours of complex and potentially dangerous work.
Now "drones inspectors" with the cameras GoPro under control of the same personnel carry out such task in only 12 minutes. All enterprise can be inspected in one working day, at the same time all hardly accessible zones will be carefully studied. As a result it is possible to be convinced that construction and equipping of the plant are supported in proper condition and safety of Ford conforms to high standards.
We joked about what well to have for such tasks of the robot, and here lit up us – we can use drones — Ford plant equipment manager in Dagenham Pat Manning says. — We had to get on height up to 50 meters to carry out necessary inspections of a roof and the equipment. Now we can check all plant in one day without any risk for our employees.[1] |
