Hey, BMW. The concern started the voice assistant in a cloud of Microsoft

On September 6, 2018 the German car maker BMW provided the voice assistant for the vehicles. Service under the name Intelligent Personal Assistant works based on cloud infrastructure of Microsoft.

Like other virtual assistants to drivers, the solution of BMW allows to manage climate control, navigation and reproduction of music, to make calls from phone connected to an information and entertaining system and also to configure work of electronic components.

Besides, the service using artificial intelligence will predict a route depending on time of day and weather conditions, will find the nearest cafes, gas station, etc., will allow to listen music from different Internet services. Also the assistant will make recommendations about fuel economy, will warn about low pressure in buses and will remind of the planned meetings. Start of service will be performed by a voice command "Hey, BMW".

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is started in a cloud of Azure and closely integrated with other Microsoft services, including Office 365 and Skype for Business. Integration with the voice assistant Cortana, besides is expected that the machines BMW support also service Amazon Alexa.

The Bavarian carmaker explains that at once three similar systems will not interfere with each other as they are focused on certain fields of activity. So, Alexa can be used for Internet purchases, Cortana — for work, and BMW service — for driving.

The machines BMW will begin to be equipped with the assistant to Intelligent Personal Assistant  in March, 2019, however buyers of new BMWs 3 Series will be able to use service in November of the 2018th. The technology will come to the new models BMW X5, Z4 and 8 Series as program updating.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will support 23 languages. Most likely, among them there will be also Russian.[1]
