System of interpretation of genetic data

The companies Genotek and "BARS GROUP" announced on September 10, 2018 agreement signature about cooperation in genetics and informatization medicine. Cooperation is aimed at consolidation of efforts in optimization of the created software solutions for maintaining the unified genetic data and interpretation of a genome.

It is expected that competences of research associates of Genotek and experience of BARS GROUP, subsidiary company of the National Center of Informatization (enters into Rostec State corporation), in the field of informatization of health care systems, storages and processings of Big Data in the field of medicine will help to create the platform which will allow to improve quality of storage and interpretation of genetic data for convenience of doctors and advantage of patients.

The financial holding JP Morgan predicts the size of the market of sequencing at the level of $86.4 billion in 2020. According to analysts, the Russian market will inevitably repeatedly grow in the next several years.

Development of genetic technologies allows to pass to really personalized and preventive medicine, emphasized in BARS GROUP. Thanks to genetic testing the person has a possibility of transition to prevention of noninfectious diseases, prevention of hereditary diseases at future children, more exact diagnostics and effective therapy.

The genetics creates Big Data: by estimates of scientists — only genomic data of people will occupy from 2 to 40 exabytes of data in 2025. It is more, than all astronomical data. Therefore effective storage and processing of genomic information are a strategic task which agreement parties intend to solve within long-term cooperation.

The market of genetic testing actively develops. In 2018 already more than 10 million people investigated the genotype. By estimates in the 2025th year of such people there will be already more than 60 million. Correct interpretation of genetic data taking into account rapid growth of researches remains a difficult task. In addition, it is important to integrate genetic information with other medical data. In cooperation with BARS GROUP and the National Center of Informatization we hope to create new large-scale solutions which will be useful to patients and doctors — the development director of Genotek Artem Elmuratov commented on an event.
