2018: Announcement of service
On September 18, 2018 Salesforce.com provided the Quip Slides service intended for creation and editing the presentations. The announcement of the competitor of Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides took place two years later after sale of Quip of Salesforce company for $582 million.
Quip began the business with the software for work with text documents, similar Microsoft Word, and then developed services for tables and communication of users. Start of Slides was the first in the list of requests of clients on creation of new services, the cofounder and the CEO of Quip Kevin Gibbs in a conversation with the Fortune edition said.
Telling about the main features of Quip Slides, he noted that users of service can ask questions during the online presentations and receive comments from the colleagues without the termination of the presentation. Besides, they can trace whether read their slides and also to look, the presentation was how far thumbed through.
It is possible to insert folders of the files which are stored on Box and Dropbox into slides and also to integrate data from spreadsheets of Quip and the software of Salesforce Sales Cloud.
For gaining access to Quip Slides clients need to purchase a subscription to all set of software for office work from Quip company. The cost of a monthly subscription is from $10 to $15 counting on one user depending on the company and a tariff plan.
According to Kevin Gibbs, more than 100 thousand employees of the largest companies entering the rating of Fortune 100 use every week Quip services. Among them — Facebook.
At the same time, as the head emphasized, Quip remains a small part of Salesforce therefore it is not going to create new products, like e-mail or service for a voice communication which would compete with office solutions of Google and Microsoft.[1]
