The airport of Dubrovnik develops DPC with technology of power supply from ABB

Customers: Dubrovnik airport

Transport

Contractors: Rittal
Product: DPA UPScale ST

Project date: 2018/02  - 2018/07

Since September, 2018 the building block system of uninterrupted power of ABB guarantees continuous high-quality power supply for a data processing center in the popular Adriatic point of destination of the Airport Dubrovnik.

The data processing center for the airport Dubrovnik in Croatia relies on technology of ABB to provide continuous and qualitative power supply for critical transactions. The ABB company provided the system of uninterrupted power DPA UPScale ST60 to the contractor of the data processing center (DPC), Rittal GmbH & Co company. KG for installation on an object.

At construction of the building of the terminal, the amount of data which need to be collected and stored for service of nearly two million people in the airport every year, demanded construction of a data processing center. ABB and Rittal proposed the complete solution for DPC of the airport in which the battery modules CBAT-120 of a system of ABB from DPA UPScale ST 60 and IT solution of Rittal are used. Solutions include the premises of security of Rittal for ensuring the maximum physical security, energy efficient IT cooling of Liquid Cooling Package (LCP), TS-IT rack, a monitoring system of CMC for humidity monitoring or temperature and modular technology of electric power distribution.

Power loss even on a fraction of a second in a data processing center can be expensive and dangerous if important data are lost. And with increase in number of visitors of the airport extremely important that information systems were available round the clock and without days off. The ABB UPS provides immediate back supply for data processing centers in case of power off from network. The system of ABB constructed with the decentralized parallel architecture (DPA) is modular. Each module contains all equipment and the software necessary for independent operation. With several modules a system guarantees that critical power will be supported at least by one module even if failure occurs in other part of a system.

The fact that the complete solution for data processing centers arrives from one supplier simplifies project planning, commissioning and guarantees that the project can be implemented for a short period[1].
