The vice president of Microsoft Julia White pays attention that Azure Data Box Edge works with the open source software thanks to what third-party developers can create own solutions compatible to the equipment.

One of the first a new system was tested by Cree company which installed the device at the enterprise for image processing for the purpose of production quality control.

For the period of testing Microsoft offers ADP equipment under control of FPGA chips (the ventilated matrixes programmed by the user) and also processors, more traditional for computers.

At the time of the presentation the price of Azure Data Box Edge was not set, but Microsoft promised to publish data until the end of 2018.[1]
