At the end of September, 2018 Microsoft and the Shell energy company announced creation and implementation of an AI system for fight against smokers at gas stations. Affirms that the neuronet will automatically recognize violation and promotes its fastest elimination.

The intelligent system uses the solution for peripheral calculations of Azure IoT Edge for data processing arriving from video cameras. In a cloud there is an analysis of behavior of people at gas stations and identification of dangerous situations. For example, at detection at the person of a cigarette or the lighter a system quickly sends warning to personnel of gas station which then undertake adequate measures of security. Also the sound signal indicating to the violator what is forbidden to be smoked here is distributed.

In addition to danger of ignition, the technology defines the passage of fuel and even theft of things from the machine through the lowered side glass.

Development of Microsoft is already used at two gas stations Sell in Thailand and  Singapore.  The companies promise wider circulation of this system and also its completion, including the algorithms allowing a neuronet to study independently.

This project became a part of the cooperation of Microsoft and Shell announced in September, 2018. Within the arrangement the oil and gas company is going to increase efficiency of all workflows of the company (from drilling and production to professional training of personnel) and also to ensure additional safety both for the retail clients, and for the staff of the enterprise.[1]

Shell will use the solution C3 IoT with Microsoft Azure as the AI platform for stimulation of digital transformation on a global scale. The company hopes to take a considerable economic benefit from expanded cooperation by means of operational large-scale implementation and a replitsirovaniye of the AI applications and machine learning.
