Volkswagen Automotive is a cloud platform which allows drivers to get freely access to digital services on the run.

On October 5, 2018 the company reported to Microsoft that it together with Volkswagen develops a specialized cloud platform of Volkswagen Automotive based on a cloud of Microsoft Azure and the platform of Internet of Things Azure IoT Edge which will allow drivers to get freely access to digital services on the run.

According to the company, the platform will integrate applications from different producers in the car and on other devices in uniform digital space. For example, the driver will be able to continue to listen to that music which he listened to houses in the machine, then to switch to a conference call, and after to check the online calendar.

The cloud of Volkswagen will use cloud services of Microsoft, including Azure IoT, PowerBI and Skype. They will help to create unique user experience on the basis of telematics and productivity solutions.

According to Volkswagen, the software and the accompanying services will be a crucial element for differentiation of car makers in the future.

Within partnership of Volkswagen will also open the next division near Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, the State of Washington, the USA which will be directly engaged in development of a cloud platform. Microsoft will be assisted by Volkswagen in hiring of personnel, consulting and also to share own cloud examination.
