Microsoft Managed Desktop

2018: Start of service

In September, 2018 Microsoft started service of lease of the equipment with the preset corporate office software and a possibility of remote control the equipment from a cloud. The new product received the name Microsoft Managed Desktop from the American softerny giant.

Its essence consists to transfer for rent different the devices working at Windows 10 (a subscription of Microsoft 365 Enterprise in a set) which will be already configured for productive work without failures and with the maximum protection against cracking.

At the first stage tablets and Surface Pro, Surface Laptop and Surface Book notebooks are offered. In the future other PC makers running Windows (by October 8 Dell already works) will be connected to service. Microsoft emphasizes that the initiative will be limited to the equipment which is completely meeting "specifications and quality requirements of a working environment" which are shown by corporation.

Service is paid in the form of a monthly subscription counting on one user. Cost will depend on the number of the computers and employees connected to the program.

If for normal users large updates come out twice a year, then within the Microsoft Managed Desktop project of the device will receive updates more often for a year, but in the small portions in the form of patches with a capacity of 50-200 MB.

In Microsoft consider that new service will allow the companies to focus on the main work and to get rid of a routine of service and updating of computers. By the beginning of October, 2018 of Microsoft Managed Desktop it is available to corporate users in the USA and Great Britain, and at the beginning of the 2019th the geography of a program runtime will cover Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

In the second half of 2019 Microsoft will add support and other countries. Whether there will be among them Russia, it is unknown — at the time of the publication of material in the Russian representative office did not respond TAdviser to the request.^[1]
