Initially the service of Smart Data Center was concentrated, first of all, on intellectual management of computing resources and resources of storage. Improvements which are offered by Hitachi Vantara are aimed at continuous optimization of physical infrastructure thanks to such functions as intellectual management of cooling on the basis of AI, intellectual optimization of SAN and the automated configuring of resources of heterogeneous storage.
Optimization of systems management of cooling based on AI
Partnership of Hitachi Vantara with Vigilent company, the system provider of dynamic management of cooling, allowed to develop the module of optimization of cooling for Smart Data Center. The Vigilent technology uses machine learning, IoT temperature sensors and regulation with a feedback for anticipatory monitoring and the analysis of a system status of cooling in a data processing center and also automatic correction of temperature condition and air flows in case of problems. Besides, it makes available to administrators of IT additional resources of operating control.
The following characteristics of service of Smart Data Center became result of partnership:
- Annual average economy up to 38%;

Intellectual optimization of SAN
The solution Smart Data Center of Hitachi Vantara allows to reduce housekeeping overheads of storage systems at the expense of continuous resource optimization of SAN performed in real time which provides effective use of resources of storage with minimum possible costs. This solution also allows to reveal formation of "hot" and "cold" zones in DWH of Hitachi that helps to provide effective use of resources of storage and placement of the stored data at appropriate levels proceeding from costs and the set requirements to performance of services.
