On October 18, 2018 Kyocera announced as the company approves, the thinnest smartphone in the world. The KY-O1L model which by the sizes is comparable to the credit card weighs only 47 grams at a thickness of 5.3 mm.
It should be noted that the Motorola Moto Z 2016 smartphone is even thinner, 5.2 mm, but it except for a camera overhang. Formally KY-O1L is a champion in terms of thickness.
But regarding technical characteristics the device Kyocera considerably lags behind not only Motorola Moto Z 2016, but also many other phones in the market. Innovation is completed with the 2.8-inch monochrome screen on electronic ink, the LTE modem and the rechargeable battery with a capacity of 380 mAh (it is comparable with some smartwatch).
For earphones and access to app store Kyocera KY-O1L has it no camera, the connector, but in a system the browser, the calculator and the calendar are preset. In a program basis the Android operating system is put, however installation of additional programs and games is not provided in phone.
Sales of Kyocera KY-O1L in the Japanese market will begin at the end of November, 2018. The smartphone can be purchased through mobile operator NTT DoCoMo.
The cost of a product will be 32 thousand yens (about $284 at the rate of at the time of the announcement of the smartphone) that there is a lot of for the device with frankly low specifications. The NTT DoCoMo company noted that wanted to create "the small and simple device". Emergence of a product in other countries it is not announced.
Kyocera cannot call the pioneer in the world of minimalist smartphones. The Light company earlier in 2018 provided a miniature tube of Light Phone 2 running the corporate LightOS operating system. A number of necessary functions, such as alarm clock and text messaging is provided in phone. At the same time on-line the device cannot go.[1]
