2018: Exit of the cloud Huawei HiQ service platform
On October 22, 2018 the Huawei company provided the cloud HiQ service platform for modeling of quantum computings which includes the simulator of quantum computings and the environment of quantum programming on the simulator.
Using powerful computing resources of a cloud platform of Huawei, HiQ provides cloud services at complete (full) and one-amplitude (single-amplitude) modeling. In particular, the HiQ platform is capable to model quantum schemes with at least 42 quantum bits (qubit) at complete modeling and with at least 81 quantum bits at one-amplitude modeling. In schemes of the small depth (low-depth circuits) the number of quantum bits can reach 169 at one-amplitude modeling, noted in Huawei.
According to the developer, the HiQ platform has a distributed architecture and the algorithmic optimizer for overcoming the barriers connected with the amount of memory and transfer lags in network. Besides, the simulator of quantum error correction was integrated into the cloud service platform capable to execute modeling of stabilizers in about tens of thousands of qubits with performance improvement at 5-15 times in comparison with similar platforms open source.
Also in October, 2018 Huawei showed the environment of quantum programming compatible to ProjectQ. The mentioned environment is capable to improve performance of the parallelized implementation of quantum algorithms. It has such functions as the simple graphical user interface (GUI) of management of the quantum scheme in use and the instrument of blocking of the user interface (BlockUI) that allows to make hybrid classical and quantum programming easily and clear.
"Quantum computings are the revolutionary technology different from classical calculations. Besides, it is a progressive key technology for cloud computing which allows to look in a new way at algorithms of artificial intelligence, increasing computing opportunities. Huawei will continue to develop this direction, at the same time the Huawei HiQ platform will be in open access". the Dr. Man-Hong Yung, the senior scientific consultant of Huawei according to the software and algorithms for quantum computings |
Huawei considers that quantum computings it is computing technology of the future. The quantum computer is capable to solve those tasks on which solution to the classical computer tens of thousands of years can be required in only several minutes or even seconds. This technology is capable to make a revolution in the field of artificial intelligence, development of new materials, development of drugs, difficult optimization, planning, etc.
Nevertheless, as explained in Huawei, quantum computings are connected with a number of technical calls – it concerns program and the hardware, algorithms and systems. Development of such complex system requires this break in the field of the hardware, management systems, the software and algorithms. Until technologies of quantum ADP equipment were created finally, simulators of quantum computings on the classical platform will play an important role in modeling of the quantum scheme, development and check of quantum algorithms and the software.
Huawei noted that an exit of the cloud Huawei HiQ service platform for modeling of quantum computings marks the first step of the company in the direction of research and development in the field of quantum computings.
