The Sheremetyevo Airport implemented the solution of VMware for optimization of work of IT infrastructure

On October 24, 2018 the VMware company announced implementation by the international airport "Sheremetyevo" of the digital platform of management of a private cloud of VMware. The solution is designed to optimize work of the IT infrastructure which is annually servicing more than 40 million passengers of the airport and also to accelerate providing IT services by means of process automation, having provided the high level of flexibility, access control and management of applications.

Project Objectives

Sheremetyevo is aimed at providing service to passengers of the high level during the whole time of stay in the territory of the airport using information technologies. In front of the block of information technologies of Sheremetyevo Airport there were problems of increase in efficiency of the used equipment, increases in flexibility of IT infrastructure and level of availability of services due to planned migration of virtual machines for service, reduction of time of deployment of the new systems, the organization centralized operation by servers and also preserving on the previous level of manpower ceiling when scaling infrastructure at performance improvement of work and efficiency of operation due to automation.

Project Progress

For achievement of these purposes it was decided to implement the platform of management of a private cloud from VMware which allowed to organize monitoring of virtual infrastructure, to implement the system of efficiency evaluation of its use and forecasting of replacement and/or expansion of the park of the equipment.

The VMware company and Sheremetyevo Airport intend to continue cooperation. The parties conduct collaboration in assessment of expediency of application of other key technologies of VMware — management of a digital environment of the user, hyper convergent infrastructure, software-defined networks.
