FCT Embrace (KT-scanner)

2018: Announcement

On October 22, 2018 the Fujifilm Medical Systems company presented the KT-scanner with the increased diameter for a tomography of all body, available in two versions – 64-srezny and 128-srezny. The model which received the name FCT Embrace is intended for inspection and treatment of patients who are not located in the normal scanner that is important against the background of modern epidemic of obesity. The scanner added a line of tools of Fujifilm company for complex visual diagnostics with the low level of radiation.

FCT Embrace can be used for scanning of all body and also for treatment of oncological patients thanks to the built-in means of planning of radiation therapy. Diameter of an opening is 85 cm that allows to place in it patients with obesity or additional tools. The wide couch is expected weight up to 300 kg.

According to representatives of Fujifilm, the FCT Embrace scanner is developed on the basis of Analogic technology and has high resolution capability and extensive potential of image processing. The platform conforms to the commonly accepted standards, is combined with other medical systems and is simple in use. Diameter of the scanner optimum corresponds to a rotary arc of the linear particle accelerator and provides simple and exact positioning of the patient for modeling and planning of treatment. FCT Embrace allows to carry out radiation therapy of onkopatsiyent in the same position which was used at a research and modeling that is choice tactics in similar cases. Producers assure that the positioning accuracy and the system of radiation protection do not affect image quality.

Fujifilm was provided by the new KT-scanner at an annual meeting of the American society of radiation therapy (ASTRO) of 2018, having noted that FCT Embrace is the first-ever scanner for a research and therapy with such large diameter.^[1]
