History

2018: Nexperia is sold to Wingtech Technology company for $3.6 billion

In October, 2018 the Chinese contract smartphone manufacturer of Wingtech Technology announced purchase of Nexperia for 25.2 billion yuans (about $3.6 billion at the rate of at the time of the announcement of the transaction).

The present transaction includes as the redemption of shares of Nexperia from other owners, and purchase of one such owner entirely, together with the share belonging to it. As a result of Wingtech 75.86% of stocks of the semiconductor company will belong.

The chipmaker Nexperia selected from NXP is sold for $3.6 billion

However, at first regulators, including Committee on the foreign investments in the United States (CFIUS) which already blocked earlier several large deals selling chipmakers should study the transaction.

Due to merger of Nexperia the Wingtech company is going to enter the market of automobile electronics which is the largest business direction for Nexperia.[1]

As notes the Bloomberg agency, China tries to weaken dependence on foreign technologies, investing billions of dollars in chips which are considered as the vital tool for ensuring national security. It became more difficult to China to purchase new technologies after the American president Donald Trump accused the country of unfair receiving valuable intellectual property. Therefore there is some probability of failure of the transaction on Nexperia sale.
