2018: Announcement of the platform

On November 25, 2018 the Accenture consulting firm and Digital Asset Holdings financial technical-company developed the platform based on a blockchain-tekhnlogii for management of licenses for the corporate software. The new application is used by language of the smart contracts Digital Asset, DAML and should simplify tracking of software licenses from creation before purchase.

The project was tested by the Accenture Operations group and is one of the first blockchains-applications created by the company. The need for development of such application was connected with the fact that Accenture manages a large portfolio of software licenses for the different enterprises and clients at the international level. Though means for tracking and management of software are upgraded, the large organization should face different problems at audit and management.

Accenture provided a blockchain platform for management of software licenses

DLT will simplify tracking of licenses and, therefore, audit function that all could see where each license is granted. It will allow the organizations to save millions of dollars a year on services in management of portfolios of software licenses. Accenture already patented the application which will allow the organizations to reduce risk of use of the unlicensed software or non-compliance with terms of use of the license. Developers note that the new platform is ideally combined with existing abilities to manage best program assets (SAM) in the class. The blockchain will increase transparency concerning distribution and use of licenses, and the distributed registers will help to execute difficult calculations in cryptographic safe environment.

Thanks to the new Accenture blockchain platform began to cooperate with the largest financial institutions of the world. But DAML and a blockchain can provide considerable efficiency in the area which is beyond financial services, developers noted.^[1]

The fact that the project has internal character for Accenture, speaks about a maturity and demand of a case. More and more software makers pass to difficult models of licensing therefore it is necessary to provide the high level of reliability and transparency of processes of management of software products — Anton Epishev commented on development of Blockchain Lead of the Russian office Accenture.

According to him, Accenture Operations already has an internal case on use of a blockchain for work with partners where using DLT the history of work on agreements remains and their change is monitored.

Use of technologies of the distributed register for SAM tasks has huge perspectives in Russia. It is no secret that features of licensing of software in our country are connected, including, with piracy when on each cunning mechanism of management of licenses users find a method it to bypass. Application of a blockchain will allow to reduce quantity of potential "holes" in management systems for licenses here and also will reduce potential reputational risks for the large companies which simply do not cope with tracking of validity periods and observance of terms of use of software by the employees — Anton Epishev concluded.
