At the beginning of December, 2018 the Gemalto company specializing in a digital security announced implementation of biometric technology during landing time in terminal 4 at the international airport of Los Angeles (USA).

The technology of biometric check known as the system of identification of persons in real time (LFIS) of Gemalto, will allow to check passengers by means of face recognition instead of traditional boarding passes. The Gemalto company should check whether the new technology conforms to requirements of customs and border control of the USA and whether it satisfies expectations of passengers.

The senior vice president of Gemalto Neville Pattinson noted that an opportunity to use biometric indicators instead of the boarding pass not only will increase security, but also will allow passengers to ascend quicker aboard. Passenger traffic around the world passes through a band of important changes, and for all people involved it is extremely important to provide to clients high-quality service and security.

For the period of the pilot program at the airport of Los Angeles the biometric system of check will be integrated. Passengers will move to an exit and to receive confirmation which is displayed the computer and the mobile device after check of biometric indicators. After completion of check all images will be deleted from a system to provide confidentiality of data.

It is expected that by 2036 the volume of air transportation will double and will reach 7.8 billion passengers. For satisfaction of this growing demand of airline and the airports make investments in the innovative solutions in the field of security. According to data of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the security system of Gemalto company provides successful face recognition less than in 5 seconds in 99.44% of cases.^[1]
