MIBS will open the Siberia's first Center of nuclear medicine with a gamma knife of Elekta

2018: Completion of construction of the center of nuclear medicine in Novosibirsk

On December 10, 2018 at Medical institute of Berezina of Sergey (MIBS) announced Zdrav.Expert that started creation of the first in the Russian Federation network of the radiokhirkrgichesky centers. As of December the construction of the Center of nuclear medicine of MIBS in Novosibirsk in which specialists of institute already installed the Gamma knife of the last generation — Leksell Gamma Knife Icon of production of the Swedish company Elekta is completed.

Radio surgical installation will become the Siberia's first and second at Medical institute of Berezina of Sergey — the first since November, 2008 works in the MIBS Oncological clinic in the settlement Sand, in St. Petersburg. Thus, the institute of Berezina having the most wide experience of treatment on the Gamma knife in the Russian Federation (more than 10 thousand patients for December, 2018), becomes the country's first organization operating with network of the radio surgical centers.

The center of nuclear medicine in Novosibirsk about 4 thousand sq.m is located on Boris Bogatkov Street. MIBS invested over 1.3 billion rubles in its construction. In medical institution 2 departments are provided: diagnostic and medical (radio surgical) with the Gamma knife installation. Visual diagnostics will be provided modern magnetic and resonant and computer by tomographs, the ultrasonic equipment, the digital mammograph, SPECT and also the city's first positron and issue tomograph (PET/KT). Radiopharmaceuticals will be produced for PET-researches in the cyclotron and laboratory complex located here. Besides, in the Center department of chemotherapy and out-patient and polyclinic acceptance will function.

Opening of the Center of nuclear medicine of MIBS in Novosibirsk is planned for the first quarter 2019. It is supposed that on the Novosibirsk Gamma knife not less than 1000 people will undergo in the long term treatment annually.

The gamma knife more half a century remains "gold standard" of modern radio surgery: with its help, as a rule, for one session it is possible to cure intra cranial malignant and benign tumors and vascular malformation. And, unlike classical surgery, this type of treatment is nontraumatic, painless and does not require the recovery period — emphasized in MIBS.

According to official figures for December 10, in Russia 5 Gamma knives function. In the world the number of these radio surgical installations approaches 500.
