2018: Disclosure of source codes
On December 17, 2018 Microsoft announced disclosure of source codes of Trill. This engine for fast data processing filled up the list of developments of the company which became OpenSource-projects.
For obtaining source codes of Trill the Microsoft company asks to contact by e-mail asktrill@microsoft.com. Materials are going to be laid out for the GitHub portal in several months.
Having made the open project of Trill, Microsoft, most likely, wants that all companies and developers used this tool as a fundamental link for processing temporal (changing in time) data, notes the OnMSFT edition.
Trill equally well works with data sets as in real time, and in a standalone mode, achieving the best results in the area — the chief engineer of research department in the Microsoft Azure group James Terwilliger says. — It does it preferable to users which need only one tool of analyses for all of them. |
Microsoft uses Trill in different products. In particular, it is the cornerstone of Azure Stream Analytics service, is applied in the system of contextual advertizing Bing Ads and helps department of development of video games to analyze the data generated by players.
The fact that Trill is so widely involved by Microsoft can be an important commercial argument for potential corporate clients. The technology which is developed since 2012 probably reached the level of development which allows to use it in industrial conditions.[1]
