2018: Announcement of the platform

At the end of December, 2018 the research division of IBM Research and an agricultural startup of Hello Tractor submitted for the African farmers the platform based on artificial intelligence technologies and a blockchain.

As envisioned by developers, the cloud service under the name Digital Wallet ("A digital purse") will provide to small farms remote access to the equipment and analytical AI tools using which it will be possible to raise harvests, TechCrunch reports.

The project provides that farmers, using remote access to weather IoT-sensors and AI algorithms will be able to make decisions on types of cultures and fertilizers for them, to optimize landing time of plants and to predict productivity. At the same time the technology of the distributed register will provide reliability and data transparency, note in IBM.

Also created IBM and Hello Tractor the platform will help with the organization of lease of the selskokhoztekhniki.

Within Digital Wallet data collection from owners of the equipment will be conducted that will allow to monitor its use, to predict need of technical repair and service and also to create credit profiles for financing opening to farmers.

By the end of December, 2018 the platform is actively tested by farmers, and the full-scale project startup is planned for 2019.
