2018: Start of service
In November, 2018 it became known of work of Predictim service which purpose — to help the user with selection of the nurse. Using algorithms of artificial intelligence and technology of computer vision, a system analyzes accounts of potential candidates on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and assigns them final score.
The cost of service begins from $24.99. The user is offered to enter a name of the nurse and the address of its e-mail. Also its consent to providing access to its accounts on social networks will be required. The nurse can refuse, but to parents the failure notice will come, and the candidate will be told that the interested parent will not be able to employ it, check will not be undergone yet.
Parents can also browse accounts of potential candidates, but Predictim developers promise the comprehensive check of long-term online activity which is coming down to one digit. The assessment is carried out by several parameters, including the use of drugs, politeness, capability to work with others, the positivity.
The CEO and the cofounder of Predictim of Sal Parsa told that the company created with assistance of the University of California in Berkeley seriously treats ethical questions concerning use of technology. Parents, according to him, should perceive ratings as the additional information which "can reflect or not reflect the valid qualities of the nurse". But danger of hiring of the problem or cruel nurse, he added, does AI by the necessary tool for any parent who wants to ensure safety of the child.
The company hopes to invert the multi-billion industry of care of children and began advertizing through paid sponsorship of parent blogs. The marketing company is generally concentrated on an opportunity to learn the hidden secrets and to prevent "a nightmare of each parent" with links to the corresponding criminal cases.
In December, 2018 it became known that Facebook, Instagram (which belongs to Facebook) and Twitter blocked Predictim for abuse of regulations on data collection and confidentiality. However Parsa rejected charges, having said that a system uses only public data.
Predictim was also criticized for use in the promotional materials of tactics of intimidation directed to parents of small children.[1][2]
