The Pentagon involved BAE Systems in software development for self-propelled artillery cannons for $0.5 billion

In January, 2019 the U.S. Department of Defense announced signing of the contract with the developer of electronics and software for the military systems of BAE Systems. The cost of the agreement is $474.1 million.

Under the terms of the agreement which validity period will expire on January 21, 2025 BAE Systems will render to the Pentagon a range of services on technology service of self-propelled artillery cannons of M109 intended for conducting firing at the purposes in radius more than 32 km.

The contract includes software development and program setup of self-propelled howitzers. The company will also provide the specialists for technology service of military equipment on places and will provide maintenance in repair shops, management of program structure and system technical transactions.

Command of purchases   of U.S. U.S. Army Contracting Command received only one application for participation in the project — from BAE Systems — and will distribute funds and places of execution of works by each order in the tender.

Earlier in January, 2019 BAE Systems signed with the Pentagon one more contract — on service of the systems of video analytics, training and "intellectual support" of employees. Order cost was $250 million^[1]

Besides, BAE Systems signed the five-year contract worth $79.8 million for assistance of US Navy in service and operation of electronic, communication and computing frameworks in Quiet and Indian oceans.

This program which is implemented with assistance of the Pacific naval center of computer and telecommunication communication will continue to provide continuous support of transactions and service of the sea and overland systems, the press release says. The most part of works will be performed in Hawaii.
