2019: SAP and Google look for entrepreneurs for promotion of circular economy
At the end of January, 2019 at the World Economic Forum of Google and SAP announced competition for search of entrepreneurs with viable, revenue-producing business plans for promotion of circular economy.
In tender which takes place under the name Circular Economy 2030, SAP and Google intend to show how other companies can use their tools for development of own steady business models. Tender is based on the concept of "circular economy" or "economy of a closed loop", i.e. the economy based on resuming of resources, an alternative of traditional, linear economy.
Any business solutions - from development of environmentally friendly packagings before creation of the renewing system of agriculture can participate in tender. Judges will look for the ideas in which Google Cloud and SAP technologies are used for large-scale deployment of the project.
The representative of Google Cloud explained that capability to help other companies with achievement of stability can be considered as competitive advantage in the market of cloud computing. Google also published the white paper in which methods of application of artificial intelligence in circular economy are investigated. For example, AI can improve and accelerate new product development, the components and materials suitable for circular economy, using iterative design processes and machine learning which allow to create and test prototypes quickly.
Representatives of Google and also experts in the field of circular economy and sustainable development, including "The UN environment", Ellen MacArthur's Fund and the World Wide Fund for Nature will judge tender. They will select five finalists for participation in a hackathon with the first prize in $200,000 and an opportunity to take part in Bootcamp Google Cloud for startups. The remained four finalists will receive $45,000 and also the personal curator for promotion of the business plan.
