On January 31, 2019, Magenta Technology announced the introduction of the Magenta platform in LafarjHolsim Russia.
Project Objective and Objectives
The purpose of the project was to optimize the business processes associated with delivery management. It was necessary to improve the quality of work with third-party carriers and realize the ability to quickly respond to changing delivery conditions during the day (the appearance of new orders, order transfer).
Tasks:
- Automate the distribution of orders among carriers based on quotas;
- To realize the possibility of operational work with applications received during the day;
- Implement an automated system of interaction with carriers;
- Provide unified access to information on drivers' compliance with safe driving standards for carriers and employees of LafarjHolsim Russia.
Project Progress
The project was launched in April 2017. Taking into account the scale of the project and the task to show the efficiency of Magenta as quickly as possible, it was decided to implement the project in stages. Thanks to this, the most significant functionality was transferred to productive operation 6 months after the start of work.
In May 2018, the Magenta platform was put into industrial operation in all distribution centers of LafarzhHolsim Russia.
Implemented functionality:
- Automatic distribution of orders between carriers.
The process of distribution of orders among carriers is automated. Distribution is carried out taking into account quotas, time windows, weight of cargo, capacity and carrying capacity of vehicles, equipment installed on cars.
Specifically for the project, the Carrier Portal was developed, which became the point of interaction between LafarzhHolsim Russia dispatchers and performers. On the Portal, carriers receive information about the orders planned for them and distribute them between their cars and drivers. All order and distribution information is automatically synchronized with the Magenta platform.
- Collection of data on driver compliance with safe driving regulations.
In order to control the compliance of drivers with the rules of safe driving, integration was set up with the traffic monitoring system used in the company. This made it possible to track violations during delivery, such as non-use of seat belts, sharp braking/acceleration, non-compliance with speed modes and working and rest schedules of drivers.
Information on driving quality is available to dispatchers of carriers in personal rooms on the Portal. The system also instantly notifies them of driver violations by e-mail.
Dispatchers LafarzhHolsim Russia receive data on compliance with safe driving rules both in the form of a report and on an interactive map, where the location of cars and detected violations are displayed online.
- Work with requests and refusals received during the day.
Information about new orders that arrive during the day is sent to the Carrier Portal. This information is available to dispatchers of carriers who can independently decide to fulfill additional orders over the quota.
To work with failures, you have added functionality that allows you to transfer orders to another time.
Project Results
By automating the distribution of orders among carriers, the lead time for delivery has been reduced. Automatic accounting of transportation requirements has improved the quality of planning.
The use of the Carrier Portal as a system for data exchange has simplified the process of interaction between LafarzhHolsim Russia dispatchers and carriers. The selection of transport for unplanned orders was accelerated.
Due to unified access to information on driver compliance with safe driving rules, the process of interaction with carriers has become more transparent.
The phased implementation has contributed to the shortening of the system's start-up time.
