Hallo, retail chain stores (ABM WMS)

In March, 2018 the company ABM Cloud completed the project on implementation warehouse management systems ABM WMS of century retail chain stores "Hallo".

Prerequisites of the Project

Optimization of work of the warehouse "Hallo" began with the analysis of a current status and processes. The warehouse complex at the same time services all network of brand stores, wholesale and retail clients of the company and also Internet orders. The warehouse of rather small area and work is conducted by the principle 24/7 in the mode of intensive loading. In the period of a high season peak load increases by 3-4 times. The warehouse is equipped with generally easy shelf racks and a small amount of racks of pallet storage. There is no address storage system. The goods are placed on categories in ascending order of the code. Management of all tasks of a warehouse is constructed through operators of the main accounting system and heads of RTs is administrative. Expansion of the area of a warehouse complex was planned for 42% and also adding of the 2-level mezzanine.

Project Tasks

Optimization of warehouse logistics of Allo company and the subsequent automation of work of a warehouse, were intended to solve the following problems:

• Creation of processes of a warehouse, scalable and adaptive under business needs.
• Increase in efficiency of use of the areas and resources of a warehouse.
• Increase in productivity of a warehouse.
• Optimization of warehouse expenses.

Course and results of the project

Optimization of work of a warehouse began with carrying out preproject inspection of logistic processes of the company "as is". "Bottlenecks" were revealed and recommendations about their effective elimination before optimization of a warehouse are developed. Further the most optimal warehouse processes within work of the automated warehouse economy running the ABM WMS system were constructed.

The Allo company emphasized that optimization of warehouse logistics using the ABM WMS system, brought work of a warehouse to higher level:

• Runtime of orders was reduced.
• Performance in shipment of goods increased line/hour by 23%.
• The service level of clients improved, the quality standards of customer service increased.
• Errors in shipments of goods decreased by 50%.
• The efficiency of use of warehouse spaces increased by 15%.
• Manual planning of transactions is eliminated.
• Time for training of new personnel was reduced.
• Refused work with paper carriers of information in intra warehouse transactions.

For implementation of complex optimization of a warehouse and automation based on ABM WMS, the Allo company makes reorganization of the available rack storage systems and also the zone from the 2nd is added by the-level mezzanine.

The address topology of a warehouse by 6 main process areas is developed:

• acceptance region;
• cross docking zone;
• zone of rack storage and selection (piking);
• zone of floor storage;
• 2nd-level mezzanine;
• control zone.

All warehouse logistic processes are automated:

• automatic calculation of store cells (taking into account weight and dimensional characteristics of goods, group of goods, category of turnover, etc.);
• automatic calculation of cells for selection of goods;
• application of several algorithms of assembly of the orders effective in different operation modes of a warehouse, including an algorithm of wave order placement for shipment;
• work with returns of goods (including canceling at a stage of consolidation and issue);
• fixing and analysis in the system of problem situations;

Inventory in several modes without the need for a stop of work of RTs for its carrying out is organized:

• according to regulations (on all warehouse, on a specific position, on a certain zone, other);
• upon detection of deviations between the fact and credentials;

Optimization of a warehouse included development of the special block of analytics for business needs, including detailed billing of resources of a warehouse.

The ABM WMS seamless connection and the main accounting system of the client with automatic data exchange in the mode pseudo-online is implemented (exchange happens on an interval 30-40 sec. or upon the demand of the user).
