Senegalese director Umarou Ganda receives the prize for the best work of developing cinematography

A prominent African director with combat experience gained as part of the French Armed Forces in Indochina was Senegalese Umaru Ganda, who in his work expressed a grudge against the former metropolis. The hero of his first film "Kabaskabo" (Cabascabo, 1968) was played by the director himself.

"Cabascabo" (Cabascabo, 1968)

The film was included in the program of the Moscow International Film Festival in 1969 and received a prize for the best work of developing cinematography. More on the film here.

1961

In 1961, at the II Moscow International Film Festival, two movie stars - Gina Lollobrigida and Elizabeth Taylor appeared at a reception in the Kremlin in the same Dior dresses.

The actresses got out of the situation with humor: all evening they tried not to move away from each other, giving themselves to take pictures. A sense of humour left them when they returned home. Both filed lawsuits against fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, who at that moment headed the Dior fashion house. The same-dress story may have been a publicity stunt by an extravagant couturier. Thanks to her, the press replicated his name. Coincidence or not, in the same 1961 Yves Saint Laurent left the Christian Dior fashion house and created his own brand - known all over the world as YSL.
