2019: Testing of technology

On March 5, 2019 it became known that in Accenture company developed and tested the solution based on blockchain technology for cross-border operations on sea cargo transportation.

Traditionally, participants of sea cargo transportation use a large number of software solutions. At the same time on one consignment about 20 accompanying documents are created, 70% of data in them repeat.

Application of a blockchain, according to experts of Accenture, will allow to optimize document flow, to reduce data entry by 80%, to simplify making changes and check of a load, to reduce risk of penalties for non-compliance with requirements of customs.

The Accenture company for March 5, 2019 tested a solution blockchain on 12 sea cargo transportation. The APL transport company, logistic company Kuehne + Nagel and customs participated in an experiment brewing corporation AB InBev as the exporter. Results confirmed that the blockchain significantly reduces costs of time and finance.

Solution development took about 5 months, 2 more months left on piloting of technology.

The blockchain is good here the fact that it allows several parties, participants of process, to have the general register - the uniform version of the truth to avoid discrepancies. The blockchain is a possibility of creation of the entrusted environment between several parties, and reliability and safety of this Wednesday is ensured due to the technology and does not require additional efforts. The technology attracts great interest of the companies which are engaged in sea logistics. All pilot projects on application of a blockchain in the field of sea cargo transportation speak about one - the big transparency, workflow automation is necessary for the industry. As a result turnover speed in port will increase and bureaucratic obstacles will decrease. Nobody waited for the invention of a bulb from Edison, candles suited all. The same with a blockchain – cannot be told that market participants actively wait for it, rather similar initiative causes in them scepticism. But it is obvious that the blockchain in sea cargo transportation is capable to become a disruptive technology, having made a revolution in this market
