Itelon implemented the hyper convergent solution based on the products HPE on Palette

On March 13, 2019 the ITELON company reported that it developed the project and implemented the cost-efficient hyper convergent solution based on products of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) at wallpaper factory "Palitra".

Prerequisites

According to the company, the Palitra factory – needed infrastructure for storage and processing of constantly growing amounts of data. IT infrastructure which was at the disposal of wallpaper factory "Palitra" became morally outdated and was in great need in upgrade. The existing equipment ceased to cope with high loads – annually the range of the producer is replenished with several hundred new articles, the list of the Russian and foreign partners with whom the producer closely cooperates extends.

Project Tasks

First of all the IT department of Palitra factory needed to increase capacity storage systems. But there was also other task – to increase computing power. For its solution it is not enough to select correct DWH, also fast high-frequency are necessary processors – are sensitive to their characteristics databases "1C:Enterprise 8" under which a system was projected.

Choosing a Solution

Initially there was an idea to construct a cluster on servers the next generation with architecture h86 and separate DWH. In this case the customer won in the cost of the solution, but lost in convenience of management: it should connect three separate devices through external switches and manage them using three separate interfaces. Considering minuses of this option, a system was selected HPE SimpliVity. This system allows to manage flexibly virtual machines and offers the built-in tools for backup data. Also an opportunity to increase performance in the future when the factory comes to new production volumes is provided in it. A system effectively uses advantages solid state drives that allows to increase considerably performance during the work with databases 1C. Thanks to an equipment room line deduplications, to compression and optimization of the stored data, they borrow much less the place that provides economic indicators of a system as the expensive capacity of solid state drives is economically spent; also the volume of network is in parallel reduced traffic. One more plus of HPE SimpliVity 380 is its compactness. A system consists of two modules of 2U in size placed in standard 19' to a rack. Each such module comprises both computing resources, and drives for placement of data. At the same time thanks to the integrated mechanisms of ensuring fault tolerance shutdown of any one module does not lead to a stop of system operation or data loss.

Work progress

One and a half working days left on unrolling HPE SimpliVity 380 in IT department of the customer and to train regular technical specialists, to show systems capabilities and to answer all arisen questions. A system is designed so that in the future it was possible to connect new universal modules for increase to it at once and tanks under data storage, and computing resources. This option the simplest. But also perhaps and separately to expand disk capacity in the existing modules and also to add to the HPE SimpliVity nodes normal servers for expansion only of computing opportunities. These options provide big flexibility and allow to scale a system very economically.

This clear desire of the customer – to prefer the convenient systems in operation if at the same time their performance, adaptivity and economic indicators also are on the ball. In HPE SimpliVity the set of the modern technologies and ideas which appeared in the industry in recent years – the delivered system, obviously, a fine basis for further development is applied. Project Results

Hyper convergent infrastructure introduced in the customer's IT infrastructure fresh versions of OS and a hypervisor and also a ready cluster for use in business of advantages of the virtualized systems. It is failsafe, productive and flexible both in respect of scaling, and in the expense plan on maintenance of its working capacity and upgrade. HPE SimpliVity 380 solves also satellite tasks: provides reliable storage and protects data; thanks to the single console of management, increases efficiency of IT specialists, reduces runtime of routine transactions.

Palette already estimated advantages of the updated infrastructure and drew conclusions on results of its work.

Within several months before the appeal to ITELON we were in great need in computing resources and free disk space. It was clear that it is impossible to solve this problem by therapeutic methods – the short-term effect of doubtful economic advantage would be gained. After implementation of HPE SimpliVity 380 performance of storage systems considerably grew and more comfortable conditions for work of databases 1C appeared.
