2023: Service Closure

On January 13, 2023, Google unveiled the latest game, the Worm Game arcade, on its Stadia cloud gaming platform. On January 18, 2023, the Stadia service will completely close due to insufficient popularity.

Worm Game is a kind of farewell surprise for Stadia users. It is said that Google used this internal version of Snake to test the functions of the cloud platform long before its opening in November 2019. Whoever takes first place in the Worm Game will forever remain the best in the game after the closure of the Stadia site. However, due to the curtailment of the project, the game itself and the results will become unavailable, so users are recommended to take a screenshot to confirm the championship.

Worm Game is a modest name we used to test many of Stadia's features, starting long before the public launch in 2019 and ending in 2022. She won't be Game of the Year, but the Stadia team spent a lot of time in it and have now decided to share it with you. Thank you for the game and for everything, "says the American IT giant.

After Stadia closes, subscribers will be able to continue using the platform's gaming controller with other devices. Initially, this gamepad was intended to connect exclusively to Stadia services. The manipulator is equipped with a Bluetooth module, but by default it is disabled. After announcing the rollback of the Stadia project, users began looking for ways to activate Bluetooth to connect the controller to other gadgets, such as smartphones. And now Google has promised to release detailed instructions on turning on wireless communication on the manipulator. In addition, the company previously initiated a refund program for purchases at Stadia. Thus, Google has made a lot of efforts to make the Stadia closure process as painless as possible for subscribers.[1]

2019

The corporation Google opened a new market for cloud gaming streaming services in 2019, thereby declaring war on video game leaders -, and Microsoft. Sony Valve She has developed her own cloud gaming service Stadia, which will allow gamers to play modern games directly through, without browser Chrome the need to install them on their PC. In other words, games will be launched at Google's facilities and broadcast to the user's computer via the Internet[2]

For end consumers, switching to Stadia is financially beneficial, as they will not incur additional costs associated with buying a game console or updating their computer. They will only need Internet access, moreover, as Google representatives said, a connection at a speed of 25 Mbps will be quite enough - in most settlements of Russia there are also faster tariff plans. Information about the speed of the Internet in Russia is given for example - Google has not yet announced the timing of the launch of Stadia in our country.

However, an update to the hardware may still be required if the player wants to get the maximum image quality. Stadia, according to the creators, is capable of broadcasting images in resolution up to Ultra HD or 4K at 60 frames per second, and not every computer can process such streaming video. In the settings, it will be possible to reduce the resolution and frame rate to the required one, with a corresponding loss of quality. In the future, Google plans to add support for 8K resolution and 120 frames per second.
