2019: Application of the Russian sensing technologies of Smart Engines and VisionLabs
In self-service terminals on issue SIM- cards MTS the Russian technologies recognitions of the companies Smart Engines and VisionLabs which solve problems of extraction data from documents and comparison of persons at automatic sale of rates to clients by the passport are applied. According to representatives Smart Engines, terminals have two cameras of capture of a video flow. One is set in the terminal and allows to read out data passports, and the second is placed on a frontal panel and serves for obtaining the image of the person of the owner of the document. Recognition of passport details in a video flow is executed algorithms Smart IDReader). The photo found on the document is cut and compared by algorithms VisionLabs to the picture of the client taken by the front camera.
Apparently from the video, in case of successful passing of checks the buyer is offered to select a rate and to receive the SIM card.
2018: Release of the SIM booth with a sensing technology of the personality
On August 8, 2018 the operator of MTS announced start of the first terminal for issue of SIM cards with a sensing technology of the personality. It is set in the city of Innopolis in Tatarstan. Until the end of 2018 the company is going to install about 100 such devices in dozens of Russian cities in the territory of stations, the airports, hotels and shopping centers.
As told in MTS, functional characteristics of the terminal allow to issue its SIM cards to new subscribers. The device is equipped with technologies for processing of personal and biometric data and also the special software package providing personal data protection from external and internal network attacks by transfer on communication channels.
For receiving the SIM card as explained in the operator, the user needs to scan three pages of the passport, to validate the recognized data, to be photographed (the device verifies the photo in the passport with the user's person in the automatic mode). After user identification the device issues the SIM card. Time of a design takes several minutes.
Any person can receive the SIM card 18 years with the Russian Federation citizen passport are more senior. In the future the device will be able to issue SIM cards to foreign citizens, the interface of the terminal will be translated into several languages — specified in MTS. |
The terminal by specialists of the company together with a number of partners is developed, representatives of operator noted. According to them, MTS development center in Innopolis completely coordinates project implementation. Also added to the companies that terminals are the property of MTS.
The project has pilot character. It is planned that terminals will gain distribution in places of big traffic (the airports, stations, shopping centers). Terminals will be able to reach the expected sales level after completion of functionality of a design of SIM cards on foreign citizens and expansions of available rates for connection. At the same time, in the company pointed that the project on development of terminals on sales of SIM cards is niche. As expected, terminals will allow to cut down operating expenses of retail in terms of the cost of lease of space for sales and redistribution of load of personnel. Finally, it will allow to increase quality and service rate of subscribers, believe in MTS.[1]
2016: The first version of terminals
The first version of terminals for issue of SIM cards of MTS appeared in 2016. Terminals allowed to issue only the additional SIM card to the acting subscribers of the operator. For March, 2019 more than 30 similar devices work in Moscow, the Moscow and Kaluga regions and also at the Far East, informed in MTS.
