2019: Announcement of the supercomputer

At the beginning of April, 2019 it became known of creation supercomputer TCS Group Holding. A system under the name "Kolmogorov" (in honor of the great Russian mathematician) will allow financial company predictive analytics to strengthen and accelerate development of speech technologies.

As the representative of Tinkoff Group told Vedomosti, the supercomputer will be able to train neural network models quicker, using an array of all data collected in 13 years of work. In particular, the equipment will be used for retraining of model which calculates the probability of sale of services of "Tinkoff of bank".  This process will take only several days instead of half a year which are required for it at standard computer capacities.

The Kolmogorov supercomputer has peak volume of 658.5 TFLOPS at calculations with a floating point of double precision (FP64). A system consists of 10 nodes equipped with the advanced Nvidia Tesla V100 calculators with specialized tensor cores for acceleration of problems of artificial intelligence. Computing nodes of the Tinkoff supercomputer are integrated by modern high-speed network of 100 Gigabits with support of RoCE technology (RDMA over Converged Ethernet). The combination of advanced technologies allowed a cluster to reach performance of 418.9 TFLOPS in the Linpack test that provided a system exit in the leaders of the rating of the fastest supercomputers of the country.

It will be in the long term possible to develop more effectively predictive analytics (forecasting of a customer behavior), training models at text data and also for sound. The group will be able to transfer sound data to texts in an expedited manner.

Besides, Kolmogorov will help with training of the voice assistant Oleg which was provided to employees of group in December, 2018. It is supposed that thanks to the supercomputer service will recognize the human speech more precisely and it is better to generate oral speech of the computer and written answers. 

Kolmogorov includes 10 computing servers, two more are necessary for data storage. The group spent about $1 million for 10 servers and the associated equipment, her representative told the edition. He noted that the company had no task to create the supercomputer specially, it just increased computing powers. "Tinkoff" is not going to sell system capacities to other companies.

Actual performance of the computing platform is 0.42 petaFLOPS (one quadrillion transactions with a floating comma of double precision per second).^[1]
