Cype selected a geometrical core of C3D for Open BIM strategy implementation

On April 4, 2019 C3D Labs reported that CYPE made the decision on transition to a geometrical core of C3D. Earlier it used program proprietary parts.

According to the company, using the Russian core it is going to improve quality of three-dimensional modeling and converting of data in the CYPE Structures, CYPE Suite MEP and Open BIM Systems systems.

CYPE purchased the license for two modules from the C3D Toolkit tool kit:

• the geometrical core of C3D Modeler – will be used for processing of files of the IFC format and accomplishment of Boolean transactions in 3D models
• C3D Converter data exchange module – is considered as a key component in strategy implementation of Open BIM which will provide import of 3D models of different formats to the products CYPE.

The solutions CYPE cover three fundamental directions of construction design: design and analysis of constructions, design and calculations of the engineering systems of buildings, design management and document flow. The company released a broad spectrum of programs for joint work and information exchange on the basis of open formats in the environment of Open BIM.

For full strategy implementation of Open BIM the CYPE software products needed to learn to work with the difficult geometrical models including received from programs of other developers. Development of own geometrical core would occupy a progressive tense therefore the company decided to consider ready components. In the course of testing the quality of documentation, complexity of API, level of technical support, costs for integration of a core into the existing projects were estimated.

Based on testing the core of C3D proved to be the strong complete solution. At it there are all tools, excellent documentation, support and code samples necessary for us. We selected C3D Toolkit because it suited us in all respects. In our products solid modeling was already implemented, and implementation of C3D took 2-3 weeks. We expanded functionality of C3D Toolkit taking into account specifics BIM-applications. For April, 2019 our geometrical core allows to implement three-dimensional modeling of architectural elements, building constructions, engineering systems.
