Uber paid Google of $700 million for services

In three years of Uber Google paid more than $700 million for use of services of the company. It is said in documents which service of the order of the taxi in the middle of April, 2019 sent to SEC along with the request for the IPO.

According to the CRN edition with reference to the materials published by the regulator during the period from 2016 to 2018 Uber transferred to Google about $631 million for work with marketing and advertizing services, $70 million for use of technology infrastructure and corporate services and also $1 million for the interconnected services.

Uber paid tens of millions of dollars for use of Google Maps

Uber paid about $58 million from 2016 to 2018 for integration of the applications with cartographic service Google Maps which, as noted, has "crucial value for functionality of the Uber platform".

According to us, there is no alternative cartographic solution capable to provide those functions of the global level which are necessary to us to offer our platform in all our markets, said in the avenue to the IPO.

Between at Uber and Google several agreements were signed. One of them assumes that Google pays Uber for promotion of the application in Google Play outside the American market. Such transaction brought Uber a lock of $3.1 million from January, 2017 till end of the 2018th.

In work of Uber service two cloud infrastructures — Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud are used. How many the company pays under these contracts, in documents is not reported. In addition to clouds of third-party providers, Uber develops own data centers which are located in the USA and other countries.

To the middle of April, 2019 the Alphabet holding which includes Google owns about 5% of stocks of Uber after investment more than $250 million in 2013. It is expected that within listing capitalization of Uber will make about $100 billion therefore the share of Alphabet can cost $5 billion[1]
