2019: Announcement of service
At the end of April, 2019 Jaguar Land Rover announced Smart Wallet service which will allow owners of cars of the company to earn cryptocurrency.
Smart Wallet works at a blockchain platform and is autonomous system for transactions. The feature of technology consists in sharing and synchronization of digital data with simultaneous distribution of equivalent copies of the register between each of system nodes.
Motorists will be able to receive cryptocurrency, having just agreed to automatic data transmission about a situation on roads to driving time on them. For example, they will be able to share data on traffic jams or carrying out a roadwork which will come as local authorities, and to navigators of other cars.
The earned digital money which is called IOTA can be spent for payment of goods and services at partners of Jaguar Land Rover. So, for bonuses the driver will be able to purchase a cup of coffee, to pay the parking and driving through the paid road, free of charge to use the station for electric vehicle charging, etc.
By the end of April, 2019 of Smart Wallet it is tested in the Irish Shannon. The Jaguar F-Pace and Range Rover Velar crossovers participate in tests.
This project became a part of strategy of Jaguar Land Rover Destination Zero aimed at achievement of zero indicators of emissions in the atmosphere, decrease in number of road incidents and traffic jams. Within this strategy economy methods due to sharing where the car plays a key role as the drive of data in the city of the future are developed. For example, communication services Smart Wallet will help to reduce traffic congestion as will share information on changes of a road situation and to offer alternative routes for drivers that will allow to reduce also the level of emissions from the cars which are getting stuck in traffic jams.[1]
