Re-education: Microsoft's software was permitted to use in prisone for education

At the end of April, 2019 the Department of correctional facilities (DCS) in South Australia announced software implementation of Microsoft for training of prisoners in basic skills of work at the computer, to reading, arithmeticians and to the letter. The project is started within an initiative 10by20 which purpose is reduction for 10% of repeated soversheniye of crimes.

In corrective labor colonies cloud services of Microsoft Azure for digital education of prisoners whereas earlier training happened to use of paper carriers were deployed. Information technology implementation was complicated by the technical difficulties connected with setup of Internet access and restrictions of operation of devices in strictly controlled conditions, such as in prison.

Re-education: Softwares of Microsoft in the educational purposes permitted to use the prisoner

The cloud platform of Microsoft allowed DCS to control constantly access to the websites which it is authorized to prisoner to visit. The program of digital education started in October, 2018, by April of the 2019th four prisons participate in it.

Every year about 6 thousand get to prisons of South Australia human. About a half of people after release commit returns to crime through within two years. To reduce the number of a recurrence, the authorities are engaged training of criminals and develop at them skills which can be useful on freedom.

DCS unrolled a cloud platform, the using Azure and Office 365 in the educational purposes. About 3 thousand people at the same time can be connected to it, and in the future this restriction can be increase in case of need. By the end of April, 2019 472 Australian prisoners use the system of online education.[1]

Security was one of the most important conditions for us because unlike any other educational institution our students are prisoners. With respect thereto we should limit to it opportunities for communication. It was necessary to limit external interaction with organization and also in it — the representative of DCS David Stiles noted.
