Biography

2019: A prison term in 10 years for pedophilia

At the beginning of May, 2019 Austin Jones was sentenced to 10 years of prison for pedophilia. The popular blogger and musical contractor had 500 thousand subscribers to YouTube and 225 thousand — on Twitter. Both accounts are deleted after there was a scandal.

26-year-old Jones was recognized that he asked six minor girls to send him to private messages videos of sexual nature in which they had to "prove" that they are the most devoted fans of the singer. Besides, the young man confessed to 30 cases when he asked schoolgirls to send candid photos and video to Facebook.

Austin Jones promised some victims career of models, and to others — the help in promotion of accounts in Instagram. He was arrested in 2017, then the account of the blogger on YouTube was blocked. However, users complained that blocking happened too slowly.

Chicago Tribune quotes the government memorandum of adjudgement in which it is said that the 26-year-old musician "manipulated fans and hunted their youth". Documents of investigation included excerpts from his online conversations with girls aged from 14 up to 15 years.

Production and receiving a child pornography — extremely non-capital offenses which threaten safety of our children and society. Jones's actions took away something that they will never be able to return from his victims and their families — the assistant prosecutor Catherine of Neff Katherine Neff Welsh said.

In court lawyers of the singer asked about indulgence. They said that Jones's life "was saddened by violence, pain, losses and the death of close people". Also in their statement it was noted that the blogger fell a victim of sexual violence in the childhood. However the court sentenced the blogger to 10 years of imprisonment.
