2019: Announcement
On May 27, 2019 Lenovo provided as the company claims, the first-ever personal computer with support of connection to networks of fifth generation (5G).
By the time of the announcement the Chinese producer did not specify the name under which the device will be on sale in the market. Lenovo only reported that so far the product has the designation Project Limitless.
The laptop is executed in a hybrid form factor, i.e. can turn into the tablet and accept other provisions depending on tasks. The cover with the screen can lean back almost by 360 degrees at the expense of what transformation is executed.
The portable PC is based on 8-core (four cores of ARM Cortex-A76 Kryo 495 Gold and four Cortex-A55 Kryo 495 Silver) the single-crystal Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx system with the built-in 5G modem of Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 thanks to which the maximum speed of the mobile Internet in 2.5 Gbps in 4G networks and 7 Gbps in 5G networks is provided.
Qualcomm claims that Snapdragon 8cx exceeds the Intel processor Core i5 and offers twice more independent operation. According to preliminary data, notebooks based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx will work in a standalone mode till 25 o'clock. The clock rate of the processor makes 2.84 GHz.
Project Limitless is supplied 16 Gbytes of RAM, the Windows 10 Pro operating system, couple of USB-C ports, the keyboard as at the Lenovo ThinkPad models and two loudspeakers located on each side from the keyboard. Diagonal of the touch screen is about the 13th inch. Resolution capability of the display and other technical specifications of a product are not specified.
Lenovo notes that the version of the notebook, completely ready to sale, is submitted, however in shops it will appear not at once — at the beginning of 2020.[1]
