ABB ensured functioning of pumps and ventilation of the Mercedes Benz plant in Moscow area

On June 4, 2019 ABB, the company in the field of industrial automation and solutions for power engineering specialists, announced delivery of a complex of the drive equipment for pumping installations and a ventilation system to recently opened assembly plant cars "Mercedes Benz" in the industrial Esipovo park of century Moscow region.

In total the producer on pumps of the enterprise installed 22 drives for water supply systems and water disposal of ACQ 580 with a total power about 800 KW and also 154 drives for the HVAC ACH 580 systems with a total power about 1.4 MW ensuring functioning of ventilation. All equipment of ABB was completely integrated into an APCS of the enterprise for the Profibus DP interface. Deliveries came to the end in November, 2018, at the beginning of 2019 balancing and commissioning was completed, in April the plant was already started.

ACQ580 drives are intended for water supply systems and water disposal and allow to provide maintenance of parameters of regulation of technology process at all stages of water treatment, water distribution and water disposal. ACQ580 is steady against aggressive influences and allows to ensure stable functioning of pumping units and a continuous flow of water, at the same time optimizing electricity consumption in a system. Function of smooth filling of pipelines of the drive of ABB provides smooth launch of the pump and also helps to avoid pressure jumps. It allows to increase life expectancy of pipelines and the pumping systems. Besides, these drives are equipped with the system of remote monitoring which allows to transfer data on technology process and messages about events without use of the additional hardware. Parametrirovaniye is performed by ACQ580 using the standard web browser. Use of this system allows to lower housekeeping overheads significantly.

Drives of ABB of ACH580 series have advanced functionality and the convenient user menu with assistants who allow to set up the equipment quickly. The additional control panel with the built-in Bluetooth interface provides wireless commissioning and start of the drive. ACH580 is capable to manage any types of engines of alternating current, including highly effective engines with permanent magnets and synchronous motors with a reactive rotor (SynRM). Drives are completely integrated with the updated platform of ACS80 family and use its instruments of programming, user preferences, parameters and functions and provide excellent performance. The built-in functions of security, for example, "the fire mode", ensure continuous functioning of the drive in emergency situations, managing the fan for smoke removal or the fire pump. The possibility of ACH580 to manage local automatic equipment of a system without use of external PLCs reduces costs of the enterprise for service.

Also at the plant about 700 switches of loading in plastic boxes of the OTP and ONE20 series held for use in the conditions of high humidity and chemical influence were installed. Boxes of switches are executed of nonflammable plastic, they are easy on weight, a heat - and are water-proof; switches are simple and safe as in installation, and operation.

Switches of ABB at the plant perform several functions. So, in the power center they manage a ventilation system and heating, and in painting and production workshops manage the drive of gate.

About 400 switches of the last series in plastic boxes of ONE20 also entered delivery scope of ABB on the Mercedes Benz plant. Their main feature is high degree of protection of IP67 thanks to what ONE20 switches can be used as main switches or switches of local appointment in the different systems, such as HVAC, the systems of water and thermal pumps, the systems of residential and commercial lighting. In Mercedes Benz workshops ONE20 switches manage funnels for water drain from a roof. Each ONE20 switch is tested and checked by production at the plant. The body of switches is manufactured of strong nonflammable materials with high resistance to UF to the radiation, moisture and different pollution that allows to use them for an outdoor installation in any weather conditions.

The ABB company carried out installation of equipment together with the Esta Construction enterprise which performed construction of all plant. Also experts of ABB at the request of the customer provided training for service of servicemen of automatic equipment, having told specialists about features of start, a parametrirovaniye and integration of the equipment into network.

The customer - Daimler AG concern was satisfied with implementation of this project, as well as work of contractors - including Esta Construction and ABB.

The enterprises making cars and component parts make strict requirements to ensuring operation of the low-voltage equipment on which correct work of the engineering systems and automation of the plant depends, in particular - to electromagnetic compatibility of the equipment. It is also important to provide thermal protection of engines at the enterprise. Drives of ABB successfully cope with these tasks.

The drive, set at the Mercedes Benz plant, trace two indicators of temperature from sensors in windings of stators of electric motors: the threshold value on which achievement the warning signal for personnel is issued and critical value when which exceeding the drive in order to avoid problems with overheating automatically stops the engine and gives an alarm to personnel.
