Norilsk Nickel and SAP announced start of cooperation in development of IT solutions for industries

On June 06, 2019 the SAP CIS company announced cooperation about Norilsk Nickel in development of IT solutions for industries. Norilsk Nickel will create digital products using software solutions of SAP which will be proposed afterwards to metallurgical and mining companies worldwide. Signatures under the memorandum were appended by the senior vice president of Norilsk Nickel Sergey Malyshev and the CEO of SAP CIS Andrey Filatov. The document was signed in the presence of the president of Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin.

During partnership creation of laboratory of joint innovations is planned. On its base experts of two companies will work on the innovation scenarios, relevant for the industry. The first solution planned to development – a system for scheduling and management of mining operations. The created IT product will allow to monitor all process of transportation of raw materials: from the production moment before arrival in workshop for its postprocessing. The solution will be developed taking into account industrial examination and requirements from Norilsk Nickel. Potential industrial objects for start of a system in commercial operation are the Komsomol, Taimyr and Rocky mines in Polar branch of Norilsk Nickel. Solution circulation on other mining enterprises of the company is in the future possible.

One more scenario planned to development will help the industrial companies to detect using machine vision the littering and nonmetallic elements when transporting ore on the pipeline. Use of such model of recognition reduces the probability of hit of nonmetallic materials, damages and stops of the expensive crushing equipment. These technologies can be also applied to other scenarios of intershop material handling.

It is planned that the developed and approved scenarios which are developed and prototipirutsya by specialists of Digital laboratory of Norilsk Nickel at first will be implemented at the enterprises of Norilsk Nickel, and then are offered the Russian and international companies of the mining and metallurgical industry.

Joint innovations will be developed using technologies of SAP, in particular the SAP HANA platform. Norilsk Nickel is going to distribute the created software products to territories of Russia and the world both on own channels, and through the price list of SAP.
