2019: Announcement

At the beginning of June, 2019 the Smith & Nephew company released the Conquest FN system intended for treatment of fractures of neck of a hip.

It is considered that the frequency of fractures of hip around the world will grow from 1.7 million in 1990 to 6.3 million in 2050, and fractures of a neck of a hip will make about 50% of these cases. Irrespective of age and a status of a bone tissue, fractures of a neck of a hip represent a serious clinical problem, the frequency of complications at which reaches 69% depending on type of a change, population of patients and the used therapeutic intervention. In particular, inadequate fixing of an implant can lead to postoperative complications and demand holding secondary procedures.

Smith & Nephew released the system of treatment of fractures of neck of a hip

Application of Conquest FN reduces risk of these statuses as a system allows to carry out easily implantation of the fixing elements during transaction, without interrupting a compression, and in the postoperative period minimizes pain and facilitates formation of a bone callosity. These data speak about the increased stability of an implant, surgeons are convinced. In the Conquest FN system the combination of implants which provide intraoperative and postoperative control is used. This combination allows the surgeon to fix dynamically a change, controlling healing process.

At system development Smith & Nephew cooperated with FX Devices company, using its POGO technology for treatment of fractures of neck of a hip. Turned a telescope compression screw which should provide a continuous compression of the place of a change after transaction into structure of the device to reduce hip pain and to reduce the probability of postoperative complications. The Conquest FN device is also supplied with the proximal fixing plate and the dynamic system of fixing.[1]
