Neopan 100 Acros II (a film for cameras)

2019: Resuming of production of a black-and-white film

At the beginning of June, 2019 the Fujifilm company announced that it enters the market of a black-and-white film for cameras again. Production of these products was stopped in 2018, and the last batches from warehouses came to shops in October. The Japanese producer explained the solution with lack of demand in connection with transition of users to digital equipment.

However specialists of the company revealed the increased demand among millenials and representatives of generation Z whom the company called "new enthusiasts of a film". Among them as it appeared, there were also those who used only digital equipment for photographing earlier. Many requests came from admirers of black-and-white filters in the smartphones which estimated charm of monochrome shooting and decided to try the film photo.

Fujifilm returned to production of a black-white film for cameras

The company promised not only to return the goods which suddenly became popular, but also to modify it so that photos turned out more accurate and qualitative. The producer will return Acros line with a new type of a film — Neopan 100 Acros II. It will be possible to purchase it in formats 35 mm and 120 mm at ISO 100. When developing a new film the Fujifilm company used Super Fine-Σ technology to receive more high definition, than at original Neopan 100 Acros.

So far the cost of Neopan 100 Acros II is unknown. In the fall of 2019 Fujifilm will begin to sell a new film in Japan and if sales are successful, the company can bring a new product and to other markets.

This news is remarkable the fact that enthusiasts of film shooting got used to expect only bad news. Earlier in 2019 Fujifilm announced about 30% increase in prices for a film and photographic paper, and often in general stops unprofitable production as happened in a case to its monochrome line in 2018.^[1]
