History

2019: Suspension of activity because of a debt

On June 11, 2019 it became known that the court in India recognized insolvent Net 4 India company. As of the end of February, 2019 under its management there were more than 100 thousand domain names (mainly, in the zone.COM and other "old" general top-level domains). At the same time the number of the names managed by the company steadily is reduced recently.

According to Domain Incite, during the period from 2002 to 2012 of Net 4 India obtained several credits in National bank of India. The company could not return them in time. In 2014 the bank sold debts of collection company Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction which demanded compensation of means through court. In 2017 the outstanding amount made about 28 million dollars. Its failure to pay also led to the current recognition of the company insolvent.

According to the contract signed by ICANN corporation with registrars, accreditation stops if the company registrar is recognized as insolvent or stays in insolvency proceeding more than 30 days. This point is already activated concerning Net 4 India. During the period from June 21 to September 19 the company is deprived of the right to register domain names and to make a transfer of the existing names under the management. If on the expiration of this term the company does not improve the situation, ICANN can terminate the registration agreement.
