2005: Purchase of laser detectors of DLS-Pergamum methane

In 2005 Gazprom transgaz Ekaterinburg purchased the remote laser detector of methane installed by helicopters from Pergamum Engineering company.

Natural gas — methane — is invisible, it has no smell and color, and its leaks are hazardous to health of people. They can lead to explosions, the fires, raw materials loss. Besides, methane has greenhouse effect which is more than 20 times stronger, than at a carbon dioxide gas.

Metanoiskatel allows to find and neutralize leak of methane on the main gas pipeline, at gas distribution stations, dumps, in cottage settlements (gas stoves use methane too), on tankers and so forth. Gazprom has a special division for detection of this gas.

Before gas workers used the Aeropoisk device which could not work at height of 100 meters and automatically determine gas leak coordinates. DLS-Pergamum registers the place where the methane cloud is revealed, but the place of gas discharge is defined by the specialist with the special device as methane moves in an air flow.^[1]
