Project date: 2019/06

At the end of June, 2019 Panasonic announced the beginning of cooperation with Department of transport of the State of Utah (UDOT) within the project assuming creation of the most modern in the country of automobile network. For this purpose the sensors capable to transfer data on road accident and zaglokhnuvshy cars will be built in a roadbed.

It will be the first completely scalable open platform which is specially developed for operators of highways and municipalities. In general a system should increase security on roads thanks to permanent data exchange in real time between vehicles, infrastructure, roads and operators of traffic. The personnel of UDOT will be immediately notified on critical events, such as accidents, severe weather conditions or the died-out vehicles. In such cases drivers of the connected cars will receive a warning with alternative routes, a delay time or other useful information.

However the intelligent network works much better when cars are equipped with special tags for work with traffic sensors. There will pass a lot of time before all cars become a part of an intelligent network and will be able to provide to it better these, but some producers already undertook the obligation to make tags models of 2021. Besides, it is possible that in the future the government will demand to build in onboard tags during production.

Partnership with Panasonic will allow UDOT to accelerate development of a nation-wide system of collecting, monitoring and data exchange about the connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV). Smart highways will be necessary for unmanned vehicles to become really safe.[1]
