2019: Announcement of Discovery IQ of the 2nd generation
At the end of June, 2019 at an annual meeting of SNMMI 2019 in Anaheim, the State of California, GE Healthcare company provided a system for PET/KT of Discovery IQ Gen 2 which issues accurate pictures at strong breath.
The second generation Discovery IQ became easier and thinner, than her predecessor. It is equipped updated program and the hardware and provides more personalized approach. Among features of a new system there is a MotionFree function which prevents washing out of images because of respiratory movements.
MotionFree does not require the gating device, instead it is smoothly integrated with the existing workflows for each patient to control respiratory movements in the background of each procedure. It also provides the analysis of breath in real time and the graphical interface for retrospective scanning, providing increase in accuracy of scanning to 30% and assessment of volume of defeat to 67%.
A system has an aperture of 70 cm in size and can execute scanning in 10-15 minutes, provides the highest sensitivity in the industry. Besides, a system is supplied with function of a remote marking which allows technologists to regulate remotely table provision from console, saving time for preparation for inspection and reducing influence of radiation. Now technologists do not need to be in one premises with the patient - it is only necessary to greet it and to locate on a table, all other operations are performed from the control panel.
Additions also include the collimator of average power with high resolution and sensitivity (MEHRS) developed for image acquisition with use India-111 and lutetia-177 in the systems of general purpose of OFEKT-KT and expansion for PETtrace cyclotron.[1]
