It is said in the statement of the minister of public services Stuart Robert that the new agreement with AWS will bring additional economy to the government and taxpayers. He noted that the government agencies regularly use AWS services, but within separate contracts. Whereas the new agreement gives an opportunity to reduce costs due to increase in efficiency.

Robert added that old cooperation with Amazon allowed the government according to the new transaction at the weekend conditions which became even better, than before.

The foundation for the transaction was laid by events of January, 2019 when AWS received the certificate from the Australian center of cyber security (ACSC) that allowed cloud giant to provide storage for the government of the Pacific Rim (Sydney). This certification reflects the highest security level approved by the federal government.

ACSC approved government use of 42 AWS services, including solutions for calculations, data storage, security, analytics, application integration and management. In May, 2019 the Australian government provided AWS as IT partner for carrying out a census of 2021.[1]
