Jet Infosystems completely upgraded the IT infrastructure

On July 8, 2019 the Jet Infosystems company announced complete upgrade of the IT infrastructure. The company proved a possibility of seamless transition to the updated equipment, having in parallel implemented a series of large-scale internal IT projects: migration on local and Wi-Fi network, creation of additional data center and transfer of all systems to a private cloud and also system implementation of unified communications.

The global purpose of transformation — to improve all internal processes of the IT company and to provide effective functioning of its business units. It was for this purpose decided to upgrade IT systems and to apply approaches to modern infrastructure of the last decade in this process. In parallel with it there was a task to test advanced technologies on itself, to get experience of their effective implementation and to transfer it to future projects for customers. The project team fulfilled processes of data migration and applications and also upgrade of a LAN with the minimum business impact and lack of a stop in work of IT systems.

Within the project there was a consolidation of all services, applications and test environments on a single virtual platform — a prototype of a private cloud. As a result of it it was succeeded to achieve the high density of environments of virtualization and to reduce the cost of ownership of the equipment.

Specialists not only provided fast moving of separate elements of infrastructure on a single platform with the minimum downtime, but also solved a number of complex problems: in particular, cross-platform migration from RISC architecture on x86 was carried out. It allowed to refuse the obsolete equipment and to increase the speed of work of systems.

Besides, it was completely upgraded server IT infrastructure. Specialists constructed storage systems based on solutions Huawei and Pure Storage and also made a virtual farm for applications. The main feature of the program of projects was the fact that they were executed in parallel at strict requirements to idle times of applications and systems.

As a result, in the company two arrays based on all-flash of solutions of Huawei and Pure Storage on which productive data are operated began to be used. It allowed to test and fulfill, on the one hand, migration mechanisms on new arrays between different platforms, and with another — to obtain information on the actual extent of deduplication and information compression.

During the project we revealed pluses and minuses of each of solutions and defined optimal scenarios for their use. A series of internal IT projects proceeded implementation of the platform of unified communications. All branches of the company were transferred to the updated mail service and the protected messenger integrated with the updated corporate telephony. All this allowed to simplify communication in office and beyond its limits and also to make partner interaction and contractors quicker and more conveniently.

Considerable transformation happened in architecture of a corporate local network and Wi-Fi. All network equipment of the company was transferred to Huawei. The failsafe, scalable, safe and productive network became result. As a key technology of connection it was selected Ethernet VPN (EVPN) — the architecture used in large data centers. The user and server network segments were unrolled based on separate EVPN-fabrik — it increased fault tolerance of network. And use of technology Power over Ethernet (PoE) reduced energy consumption.
